How to Map/Sync MCAD 3D Models to Components on ECAD
In order to make models placed on MCAD side being recognized on ECAD side:
Make sure acommon parameter with the same name is defined for respective 3D model on the MCAD side and for the component footprint on ECAD side. For this purpose open the respective Altium Workspace inside web-browser and under the Admin ► Settings ► MCAD CoDesigner ► Enable check box “Recognize models placed in MCAD and use true electrical components in ECAD instead” ► Save the settings
Once the settings are saved, restart Altium Designer and MCAD Software (PTC Creo / Solid Works / Autodesk Inventor)
Now open MCAD Tool Software ► Open Altium CoDesigner panel ► Sign in and select your workspace
Create the Board Assembly or Pull Board from the Server
Place the 3D model manually on the MCAD layout board
Select the the 3D Model inside model tree >> Right Click >> Click on Parameters
Make sure to place this common parameter name with the type String and the common value used for same parameter on ECAD side
PUSH the changed MCAD Project to Altium Workspace using Altium CoDesigner Panel
Open Altium Designer and PULL the changes made on MCAD side
The MCAD model will automatically Sync to the Footprint with the right designator defined Altium Designer
