Enabling VCS of an Uploaded A365 Project

Created: March 25, 2021 | Updated: September 1, 2021

A previously released project may not have utilized the built-in VCS of Altium 365. This article discusses how to add the project to the built-in VCS of Altium 365 after it has been released.

Solution Details

Projects can be stored in Altium 365 without using the built-in GIT repository and version control system. This is similar to storing content on a network drive. This means there may be no formal version control in place to manage the different revisions and states of the project.

If users want to work together on the same project, and have version control management in place within the Altium Designer and Altium 365 workspace, they will need to enable the built-in Version Control. If the project is already in the Altium 365 workspace, you can still enable the VCS without having to re-release the design. Simply enable the following option to enable formal version control:

Project Options>>General>>Enable the checkbox "Formal Version Control - allows multiple contributors to work on this project"

The end result will be the following:

Projects Panel will now display the version control statuses of the files.
