Summary

The Sign In dialog is used to sign in to your Altium account or to sign in to a Workspace. The use of the dialog depends on how the dialog is accessed.

Access

The version of the dialog used to sign in to your Altium account can be accessed in the following ways:

  • Click then choose Sign in from the menu.
  • Click , choose Licenses from the menu then click the Sign in link on the License Management page.

The version of the dialog used to sign into a Workspace can be accessed in the following ways:

  • Click then choose Custom connection.

Options/Controls

Signing into an Altium Account

This dialog allows you to sign into Altium by using the appropriate credentials.

  • Email – enter your email. This is the email that was used when your Altium Account credentials were created. Contact your local Altium administrator if you do not have your Altium account credentials available.
  • Password – enter your Altium password.
    • Sign in automatically – enable this option to automatically sign into Altium's online services when you start Altium Designer using the specified User Name and Password.
    • Forgot password? – select this option to open the Reset Password dialog, where you may receive a new temporary password that will then be sent to your email address.
  • – click this button to be directed to Google, where you may sign in using your Google account credentials.
  • – click this button to be directed to Facebook, where you may sign in using your Facebook account credentials.
  • – if your organization has set up single sign on access, you may sign in through the Single Sign On dialog by clicking this button.
  • By signing in you agree to Altium's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use – you may select Privacy Policy to be directed to the Altium Privacy Policy, or Terms of Use to be directed to Altium's General Terms of Service.
  • Register an account – select this option to be directed to the Altium 365 registration page, where you may register for a new Altium 365 account, or sign in to a preexisting one.
  • Sign in – once the email and password are entered, this button becomes available. Click to continue with the sign-in process.

Signing into a Workspace

This dialog enables you to sign into a Workspace. A Workspace can be used to store everything related to designing in the software including design source data, such as components, schematics and PCB files; design release data, such as Gerber and ODB++ data; and installations and updates of the software itself. You can only sign into a Workspace that has already been installed and has appropriate user credentials defined.

  • Server Address – use this field to enter the location URL of the Workspace to which you want to connect. The format for this is: <ComputerName>:<PortNumber>. Use the drop-down arrow then choose Preferences to access the Data Management – Servers page of the Preferences dialog to manage Workspaces.
  • User Name – enter an existing, valid user name for a Workspace.
  • Password – enter the password that corresponds to the User Name.
    • Sign in automatically – enable to automatically sign in to the Workspace when Altium Designer is started.
  • Use Windows Session credentials – enable to use your active Windows Session credentials to log into the Workspace. The User Name field will display your Windows username. This enables you to log into the Workspace without the need to create and remember an additional password.
  • Sign in – click to log into the Workspace using the above settings.

Altium Connection

Altium Designer includes features to enhance your productivity by bringing information to you on-demand. Whenever a connection to any of these services is made, information about you and your PC may be gathered to identify you and deliver the right services. Information collected by Altium will not be shared with any third parties.

When you use a feature that connects Altium Designer to the on-demand services, Altium may collect the following information:

  • MAC Addresses: Altium uses a computer's MAC address to identify a PC. If you sign in on multiple computers, each sign in request will be recorded uniquely.
  • HDD serial numbers: Along with the MAC addresses, this information provides a robust way to identify a PC for licensing purposes.
  • Altium Designer version: Altium uses the software version to differentiate between products so that the correct services can be delivered for each product.

Altium does not, and shall not, read or gather any information about the designs or files you use within Altium Designer.

All connections to the Altium portal through Altium Designer are secure. Along with the information that is gathered, information that you enter will also be communicated in requests to Altium's portal. When data is recorded with Altium's portal, the data will include a time stamp showing when the data was recorded.

How We Use the Information

The information gathered by Altium is used to provide you with the correct services that can be delivered for your product. Altium may also use the information for internal reviews and analysis in order to improve our products and services.

We will not disclose your individual information to any third party and will not sell, trade or rent that information for marketing purposes. If we need to disclose any information to conform to any laws or legal process, we will do so in a manner so as to provide the maximum amount of protection legally possible for such information.

Consent

By connecting with Altium's services through Altium Designer, you are consenting to the gathering of this information and our use of this information in accordance with the principles outlined in this Privacy Policy.

Should you wish not to receive the benefits that these services bring, Altium makes it readily possible to disconnect from its on-demand services.

If at any time we change the Privacy Policy, we will post those changes on the website so that you are kept fully informed.
